Step 1 Noticing Our Triggers
Our triggers can be
- Emotional,
- Environmental
- Situational
It's important that we notice our triggers, emotions and behaviours to make powerful mindset changes. So we recognise when a craving is taking control. Feeling the familiar tug of comfort eating, then pausing and dissolving sensations or feelings instead of letting them control our actions.
Step 2 Interrupting Habitual Triggers
We do habits without thinking, like tying shoelaces or finding ourselves standing in front of an open fridge or larder and not noticing how we got there. Now that we notice our craving triggers before they take control we can:
- Interrupt and intervene negative actions and behaviours
- Make small easy shifts towards your goal
- Move from unwanted habits to positive mindful choices
